Chadlington First Team entered the second round of the John Fathers Oxfordshire Junior Shield on Saturday and faced Combe who had resoundinglay dumped them out of the competition last season.
The same result was never on the cards and even though Chad gotten Combe chances to get back into the game, they ran out 3-2 winners with goals from Jordan Charlesworth (2) and Ethan Bennett.
Chadlington Reserves bounced back from a humiliating defeat to unbeaten Wootton Sports in Div 3 with a pedestrian 5-1 over Eynsham SSC Reserves.
With their unbeaten record now shattered it was time for the Reserves to get back on track. Despite continual chances coming and going they went into the break only 1-0 up via George Slatter.
In the second half Chad got into gear and scored a further 4 via Ethan Taylor, Slatter and Brinley Mayne. How Slatter and Taylor didn’t grab hat-tricks is anyone’s guess , the scoreline could easily have been double figures.
Full time - 5-1 and back to winning ways
