Week 15 Results - Saturday 4th February

Chadlington First Team recorded an important win in Division One on Saturday as they dispatched Ducklington 3-0 at home.

Chad had been sucked downwards in the league and found themselves just above the relegation places prior to the game. Despite a series of good performances this season, points and more importantly wins have been hard to achieve.

With Ducklington just below them in the table the game was a tough encounter but Chad stood firm and sealed 3 points with goals from Jordan Charlesworth, Ethan Bennett and Josh Chadbund.

Chadlington Reserves travelled to Sherborne Harriers in Division Three having only just played them a few weeks before. That game resulted in a romping 8-0 win for the Reserves but this latest game proved not to be so straight forward.

Chad started the game bright and up tempo but 1 lapse in concentration after just 18 minutes saw Sherborne take a surprising lead. Despite this set back, the tempo was kept high and Chad threw everything at their opposition only to be constantly denied by bar, post, and the sprightly Sherborne keeper.

It took the wisest of heads to grab the all important equaliser as evergreen Adam Tinkham nodded in at the far post just 5 minutes before the break. Chad knew and probably Sherborne knew that this was a key moment in the game and so it proved.

As the teams started the second half, it took just 5 minutes for Chad to take the lead and then extend it. Nadir Fortes grabbed a quick fire two goals with the second direct from a freekick. Ethan Taylor added a third 10 minutes later with James Hobden heading in to make it 5-1.

Fortes secured his hattrick on 70 minutes and it looked as though Chad would be on course to equal their scoring from last time out. Sherborne though had other ideas and kept the pressure up on the back line of Chadlington which resulted in them grabbing their second of the game to finished the scoring.

Final score 6-2 and Chadlington extend their lead at the top of the table.
