
Chadlington return to the semi final of the John Fathers Oxfordshire Junior Shield for the first time since 1996 on Wednesday 19th March.
Their opponents will be fellow Witney & District Premier Division side Hailey and the game will be played at Thame United's Meadow View Park ground with a 7.45pm kick off.
Road to the Semi
Chadlington had a bye in the first round of the Shield and were then drawn against Hook Norton of the Banbury Prem in the second round. It was a close end to end game but Chad won 4-3 with two goals from Alfie Peachey and one each from Tyler Bradley and Kyle Grimmett.
In the third round they faced SWIS also of the Banbury Prem and won on penalties after the game ended 2-2 at full time. Alfie Peachey again with 2 goals.
In the quarter final, Chadlington faced Witney Prem side Aston and true to form the game went again to penalties which they won. Alfie Peachey kept up his Shield scoring form to score both.
History
Chadlington have won 5 Junior Shields in their long history with a total second only to Kingham AB (7). They have also lost two finals included their last outing in 1996. They also remain the only side to have retained the Shield in the competitions 126 year history having done so in 1958.
Hailey have won two Shields which was in 2007 and in 2022. They had the chance themselves to retain it in 2023 but lost in the final to Graven Hill.
The Final
The final will be played at Thame United on Tuesday 6th May. The winner of either Chadlington or Hailey will face holders Hardwick Sports who beat Heyford Athletic 1-0 in the other semi final.
